UIC Athletic Center

Chicago, IL

The UIC Athletic Center in Chicago, Illinois, required the demolition and removal of about 2/3 of an existing hockey rink and the reconstruction of the new athletic center with the remaining 1/3 of the footage. GAC created a second floor in the existing building and constructed an addition allowing access to the current hockey rink and physical education buildings. It has state-of-the-art facilities, including two collegiate basketball floors with movable dividing partitions, training rooms, workout rooms, hydrotherapy tubs, separate locker rooms for about four to five sports, and administrative offices from the athletic director to the coaches. We installed new windows, a new floor, and an apartment above the hockey rink.
