Amtrak ADA Stations Program (ADASP) and State of Good Repair Upgrades (SOGR)

Tomah, WI

The Tomah Amtrak station renovation enhances accessibility and infrastructure through comprehensive ADA and State of Good Repair (SOGR) upgrades.

ADA improvements include replacing the existing platform with a new 330-foot by 13-foot cast-in-place concrete platform, elevated 8 inches above top-of-rail (TOR), and equipped with a snow-melting system. The new mechanical building now houses the snow-melt mechanical systems and replicates the historic architectural features of the existing station. Additional features include an integral platform trench drain, a heat-traced underdrain system, and connections to the existing drainage network. A new ADA-compliant concrete parking area and an upgraded WCLE locking mechanism will also be installed, along with platform lighting, Amtrak- and DOT-compliant signage, and a lighting control relay panel.

SOGR enhancements address deteriorated siding and outdoor steps, ensuring compliance with ADA standards. Interior updates include new soap dispensers, larger restroom grab bars, split system cooling in the waiting room, and recessed floor receptacles. Electrical upgrades feature new panels, circuits, and mechanical equipment wiring.

These updates provide a safer, more accessible, and modernized station experience for all passengers while preserving the historical nature of this station.
