Amtrak ADA Stations Program – Purcell, OK
George Allen Construction completed the renovation of the Purcell Amtrak station to achieve full ADA compliance, enhancing accessibility and functionality for all passengers. The team restored the existing concrete platform, added new traffic lines and detectable warning surfaces, and installed emergency egress ramps at both the north and south ends of the platform.
In the parking area, workers replaced asphalt with concrete, creating ADA-compliant parking stalls, curb ramps, and upgraded access walkways, ramps, and drop-off zones. The team relocated the Wheelchair Lift Enclosure (WCLE) onto a newly constructed concrete pad. They reinstalled salvaged benches, trash cans, and signage while adding additional signage to improve navigation.
The crew selectively replaced railings and adjusted entryway light fixtures to meet compliance standards. They maintained access to adjacent village property throughout construction, minimizing disruption and delivering a modern, accessible station for the community and Amtrak passengers.
