Amtrak ADA Stations Program – Temple, TX
George Allen Construction upgraded the Amtrak station in Temple, TX, to meet ADA standards while enhancing accessibility and functionality. The team replaced the 761-foot platform with a new stamped concrete structure, adding tactile warning strips, integrated lighting, traffic paint warnings, and an 8-inch underdrain system supported by 230 helical piles. Workers constructed accessible brick walkways connecting the platform to the station’s waiting room entrances, accessible parking, and bus stops, ensuring seamless navigation for all users.
The team installed a wheelchair lift enclosure, grade crossing panels, platform-mounted lighting, and fencing. They upgraded drainage systems by constructing a dry well, catch basins, and shoring for the underdrain installation. The crew also updated exterior and platform signage to improve wayfinding. Construction occurred in two phases, maintaining safe pedestrian access and parking lot connectivity throughout the project. These renovations delivered a more inclusive and efficient experience for Amtrak passengers.
