Amtrak ADA Stations Program – Yazoo City, MS
The Yazoo City Amtrak station renovation focuses on enhancing accessibility and functionality through comprehensive upgrades to the site, platform, and station exterior.
Site work includes demolishing the existing asphalt parking lot, trees, planter box, and sections of the drive aisle guardrail. New construction features an ADA-compliant walkway, curb ramp, sloped sidewalks, and concrete landings connecting the platform to the parking lot. A new asphalt parking lot will include two accessible spaces with striping, lighting, signage, and bollards. The site will be regraded, with stormwater management facilities installed and six trees replanted.
Platform improvements involve replacing the existing platform, fence, and lighting with a 300-foot concrete platform elevated 8 inches above top-of-rail, complete with tactile warning strips, lighting, and drainage. The exterior upgrades include a new open-air shelter, benches, trash cans, and a wheelchair lift enclosure. Amtrak-branded and accessible signage will ensure clarity and compliance.
These enhancements deliver a modern, accessible experience for all passengers.
