Amtrak Chicago S&I Building Air Curtain Replacement – Chicago, IL

Chicago, IL

George Allen Construction replaced and upgraded the air curtain system at Amtrak’s Chicago S&I Building to improve energy efficiency and operational functionality. The team demolished existing structural framing, air curtain systems, and associated piping, and removed and replaced overhead doors with durable rubber doors.

Crews installed 12 bollards, steel supports for mechanical piping and equipment, and eight gas-fired unit heaters. They also integrated 16 owner-supplied vertical air curtain units to enhance environmental separation and energy conservation.

These upgrades modernized the facility, delivering robust and efficient systems that support Amtrak’s operations while improving workplace safety and environmental control.
