Amtrak LAX Wheel Truing Facility, Phases I–IV – Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles, CA

The Amtrak LAX Wheel Truing Facility project, completed across Phases I–IV, delivered a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability. Key upgrades included reconfiguring track approaches, modernizing wheel storage tracks, and replacing outdated infrastructure with advanced wheel truing systems.

In Phase IV, the team installed a custom wheel change slide rail trolley system within a rehabilitated structure, using sustainable construction practices. Electrical and mechanical upgrades streamlined operations by reducing manual labor, improving both safety and efficiency. Excavation and civil work throughout all phases were carefully managed in collaboration with local Native American tribes and archaeological experts to protect cultural artifacts. Adjacent structures were stabilized, and yard operations continued seamlessly, minimizing disruptions.
