Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum
Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum and garden crypts in Alsip, Illinois, are owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Cemeteries. The prominent sculptural dome at the Mausoleum of the Archangels is made of structural steel and clad in stainless steel to give it a brilliant appearance. A 28-foot cross adorns the crown as a testament to the faithful. The garden crypts contain 16,000 burial niches symmetrically arranged on the structure’s exterior walls. Within the interior walls of the garden crypts, there are private seating areas surrounded by granite walls and overlooked by statues of the archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.
GAC provided construction of the mausoleum, which included cast-in-place foundations, the installation of precast concrete and granite walls, and temporary shoring to hold the architectural dome in place. At the same time, the support spokes were assembled and welded into place.
