Norfolk Southern - Mechanical Shop

Acting as General Contractor, our team constructed a new 24,000 SF four-track combined locomotive and car shop maintenance building for the NS railroad in North Kansas City, MO. Included in the project were site grading, mass excavation, mass grading for new trackwork, site sewer, water, natural gas, access roads, high mast lighting, and a detention pond. GAC supervised the construction of the PEMB building with a jacking pit, drop table, welding systems, lube oil systems, raised locomotive service platforms, overhead cranes, office locker, and toilet facilities. The project included deep building foundations and dewatering due to the proximity of the Missouri River. Project planning included multiple phases to facilitate the owner’s daily operations.
