Our Lady of the Ridge Renovation

Chicago Ridge, IL

Our Lady of the Ridge, located in Chicago Ridge, Illinois, was designed by John Voosen. The engineering of the structure is unique because the worship space is supported with tension and compression methods rather than the typical support from interior columns. The system used a series of cables and turnbuckles when connected to the eight octagon-shaped steel columns in the foundation, and the ten steel columns within the roof structure gave the structure the necessary support.
GAC provided the demolition and renovation needed to adapt the existing church into a multipurpose room and the construction services required to build the new church. Renovations included a new kitchen and meeting room, and toilet facilities. The newly constructed church included an eight-sided skylight with lead glass windows, new interior finishes, and a sacristy.
